In October 2019, Dr. Kälin contributed his voice to a BBC article explaining the growing global appetite for investment migration programs. Quoting Dr. Kälin, the article states that citizenship "is one of the few things left in the world that is tied to blood lines, or where you are born." Dr. Kälin goes on to ask: "What is wrong with regarding citizenship like a membership," and: "And what is wrong with admitting talented people who will contribute?" Focusing on Vanuatu citizenship-by-investment, the article then questions the Vanuatu program's reputation but, importantly, notes that due to the program's issues with corruption, this is not a program that Henley & Partners nor Dr. Kälin choose to promote.
