Christian Kälin visits the area where a city for refugees is to be built for the first time. His idea is supported by Samih Sawiris, among others.
What was long considered a utopian project is now making progress. Entrepreneur Christian Kälin wants to build a city for refugees looking for work. He set up the Andan Foundation for this purpose in 2017. He recently stood for the first time on the ground that could one day form the foundation for such a metropolis. Kälin does not yet want to reveal which country is involved. “The area is located in a nation with a stable, democratically elected government,” says Kälin. That is important. After all, the migrants who are supposed to contribute to the prosperity of the city with their work are looking for stability. More than 100 million people around the world are fleeing conflict and persecution.
